In the inaugural GuideVision Insider podcast, we went right to the top for a conversation with co-founder Norbert Nagy. In this engaging, wide-ranging and informal conversation, Norbert talks about what it was like to start his tech company, why they decided to focus exclusively on ServiceNow as a platform, and why it was important that the company make a move from being only a supplier of software to being a consultancy, and further towards being a strategic partner for its customers.

WHY THEY BET ON SERVICENOW - “At that time we were evaluating different products. We kept our eyes open. We were searching for the Holy Grail. And eventually we met the ServiceNow platform,” he says.

GUIDEVISION’S VALUES - Values are also important for GuideVision, Norbert explains: “We win if they win.” GuideVision does not aim for the highest profit “because we aim for long-term partnerships. So we are committed to the success of our customers, because we win if they win, and we win or lose together.

WHAT HE’D DO DIFFERENTLY - He also talks about what he would do differently if he was able to do it again. Perhaps surprisingly, he explains that it is with regard to hiring. “Most of the time, market demand was really not an issue. We were just short on delivery capacities.”

WHAT DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION REALLY MEANS - The term ‘digital transformation’ has been used to mean many things, he says, but one of the things it showed was that the companies that invested in transformation were much more flexible when the pandemic struck. ““As covid came, people suddenly needed to stay at home, and there were many companies who were not able to onboard new employees or let employees go, simply because their processes were not prepared for that.”

ADVICE FOR TECH STARTUPS - Norbert also has words of encouragement for people who are just starting their own tech companies. “Someone said think big, start small, act fast. I believe it's very true, but I would complete it with: Fail fast and then repeat again.” he says. “That's important because you probably won’t pick up the best thing the very first time,” he adds, “So you should fail really fast with that. Admit that you are failing that fast before actually exhausting your capital.” Admitting such a thing is difficult, he says. “There are depressive moments - but that's also even more reason to do it fast and try it again.”
